O, the weather outside is frightful…

From 85 degrees on Thursday to 25 on Saturday for a 60 degree drop! Welcome to a Texas winter.

Our niece is now 2 years old and the Parker clan celebrated in the usual style; hanging out and eating a bunch of stuff.

Of course there was Pops taking pictures.

Then there was the birthday girl having her cake AND eating it.

A good time had by all.

This past Sunday, we had several great friends to our house for a very special event - a baptism.

I would say that is putting the hot tub to good use. May our new brothers and sisters in the Lord be blessed!

Monday night I went to the Stars game with my friend Geoffery.

If you want to see a microcosm of American poverty layers, just ride public transportation to a sporting event. There are those who realize it is convenient and a cheaper alternative to driving, fighting traffic, and paying for parking. And then there are those who most likely have no idea that a sporting event is even happening in their city that night.

For those of you that have ever ridden the light rail, you will recognize these textures.

The end result:

I had the privilege of leading worship for the Kids Church at Sojourn this morning. This is a monthly treat for me - to see kids jumping and clapping and raising their hands in worship to our King. What a great and fun responsibility it is for me to be entrusted to lead these little ones into His throneroom!

Before the first service started, I snapped a few pictures in panoramic style. Then I used a photo stitching software to put together the picture below. This is a view from the stage in the Youth room which also doubles as the Kid’s Church room on Sundays. (Clicking the thumbnail picture below will take you to a full sized picture but beware, it’s large!)

There is also a really cool feature to the room…a disco ball right above the stage. Although we don’t use it during worship, it’s good to know we could if we needed to. Disco for God!

My sister is moving so…here was part of my day today.

I am starting a new photo journal. I’ll call it matpic - to keep with the theme of the site.

It’s something I have wanted to do for a while: take my camera with me most places and chronical my day-to-day life. Maybe it’s my way of contributing, maybe someday my kids will see it, maybe it’s just for my own edification. Hope you enjoy. Below is entry #1.
